A Maternity Photoshoot on the Beach in the Arcachon Bay

Some photo sessions feel less like a photoshoot and more like a pause in time.

Jessica and Julien’s was one of them.

Together with their dog, we met on the beach on the Arcachon Bay for an outdoor maternity session, surrounded by the soft, changing light that I love so much here.

No complicated setting. No stiff poses. Just the two of them, their dog, the beach, and the anticipation of a baby who was about to change their lives.

A natural maternity photoshoot outdoors

Jessica and Julien wanted photographs that felt like them.

Natural, elegant and timeless, rather than overly posed or heavily styled maternity photographs.

The beach was therefore an obvious choice.

The Arcachon Bay offers an incredible setting for an outdoor maternity photoshoot. The wide stretches of sand, the ocean and, above all, the changing light allow us to create a varied collection of images without ever needing to change location.

For me, the aim is not simply to photograph a pregnancy or a beautiful baby bump.

It is to tell the story of a very particular moment in your life: the time when you are still two, but already becoming three.

And in their case, four, because their dog was very much part of their story too.

A maternity session with your dog

When a dog is part of the family, it feels completely natural to include them in your maternity photographs too.

Jessica and Julien’s dog brought something wonderfully spontaneous to the session. She obviously had no obligation to sit perfectly still, and that is exactly what makes the photographs feel alive.

A photoshoot with your dog shouldn’t become a series of photographs where everyone simply looks at the camera.

We walk.

We play.

We get closer.

We let the dog run for a while.

And then we naturally come back together.

These little moments bring a different energy to the photographs and, most importantly, create memories that genuinely feel like your family.

Photographing the connection between you

A maternity session is also an opportunity to photograph the relationship between you as future parents.

The little gestures become important: a hand resting on your bump, a look, an embrace, a smile exchanged without even thinking about it.

I rarely want to fill a session with poses.

Instead, I give you a few simple directions and then let you interact naturally. It is often in these moments that the most genuine expressions appear.

For Jessica and Julien, the session grew naturally around this simplicity: walking together, enjoying the beach, getting close, playing with their dog and simply taking their time.

The result is a collection of photographs that feels intimate, natural and elegant.

Why choose the beach for a maternity photoshoot?

There is something very special about the beach when it comes to maternity photography.

The space allows us to create clean, timeless images centred around you as a couple. The sand, ocean and sky can almost become an abstract backdrop.

On the Arcachon Bay, the light is particularly beautiful towards the end of the day. It can be soft and enveloping before becoming more graphic as the sun begins to set.

This is also what I love about maternity sessions around the Arcachon Bay: every session is different.

The weather, season, tide and light can completely transform the atmosphere.

A maternity session that tells more than a pregnancy

In a few years, these photographs and the album Jessica and Julien chose won’t simply be memories of a pregnancy.

They will also tell the story of who Jessica and Julien were before their child arrived.

Their gestures.

Their connection.

The way they were together.

And their little dog, who was such an important part of their everyday life at the time.

That is exactly why I love photographing maternity sessions this way.

Because a beautiful maternity photograph doesn’t need to be only about a baby bump.

It can tell the story of anticipation, love, connection and the beginning of a new family story.

Planning a maternity photoshoot on the Arcachon Bay

Are you expecting a baby and considering a maternity photoshoot in the Arcachon Bay, Arcachon, Pyla-sur-Mer, La Teste-de-Buch or one of the surrounding beaches?

I offer fully personalised maternity sessions, whether you come as a couple, on your own or with your family — including your four-legged family members.

Your session can take place on the beach, among the pine trees or somewhere else around the Arcachon Bay that feels meaningful to you.

The aim is to create natural, timeless photographs, with gentle direction throughout the session so that you feel comfortable and completely yourself in front of the camera.

When should you have your maternity photoshoot?

I generally recommend planning your maternity session between the 7th and 8th month of pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully defined while you can still move around comfortably.

For an outdoor session, we also choose the time of day according to the light and the season.

And if you would like to include your dog, we simply adapt the session so they can enjoy the experience too.

A maternity session, but most of all, a memory of you

Jessica and Julien will keep these photographs as the first images of a new chapter in their lives.

One day, their child will be able to look back at these photographs and discover their parents before they became parents.

And perhaps their dog too, who was already there from the very beginning.

This is what I love about family photography: creating photographs that become even more meaningful with time.

Expecting a baby?

If you would like to preserve this little chapter before your family grows, I welcome couples and families for natural maternity sessions in Arcachon, Pyla-sur-Mer, La Teste-de-Buch and around the Arcachon Bay.
